Infrastructure

The soft chromatic stones are mined from the Quarries of Makrana Marble, Ambaji Marbles and Rajnagar Marbles. Sompura Stone Craft Pvt. Ltd. also obtains stones from Banshipaharpur, Baleswar and Jaisalmer. Yellow stones from Dhrangadhra and Porbandar are largely used for carving images in Temples.

As regards the subject matter of these images, the sculptors are required to work according to the guidelines in the Shilpa Shastra, an ancient Hindu treatise on sculpture and architecture.
